Ingredients

8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

3 tablespoons water

Directions

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees; line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the melted butter, water and sugar cookie mix in a large bowl and beat till well combined – the mixture will be crumbly but should hold together when pressed. Remove half the mixture and place in a separate bowl.

To the dough remaining in the bowl add the cherry emulsion and a few drops of the food coloring. Beat till combine – you can add more food coloring, a bit at a time, till the desired shade is reached.

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, place scoops of both doughs onto your prepared baking sheet – you should have about 12 scoops of each color. Divide each scoop in half.

Take one plain piece of dough and one pink piece and gently roll together between your hands, making sure that the colors don’t blend together. Return to your baking sheet and repeat with the rest of the dough. Using a small spatula or a flat-bottomed measuring cup, gently flatten each cookie. Sprinkle with the candy quins.

Bake the cookies for 8 minutes, remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
